Beth A. Malizia, MD

Dr. Malizia is a native of Montclair, New Jersey, and graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University where she was the recipient of the Top Female Scholar-Athlete Scholarship. Dr. Malizia received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina where she was the recipient of an NIH Research Training Grant and an International Medical Fellowship award. She subsequently completed a residency in Ob/Gyn at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2005, during which time she won the Argus Medical Student Association Best Resident Teacher Award and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Resident Achievement Award.

In 2008, Dr. Malizia completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where she was an instructor at Harvard Medical School. Her clinical training was at Boston IVF, one of the largest in vitro fertilization programs in the United States. The author of over 20 publications, Dr. Malizia’s research on in vitro fertilization outcomes has been published in multiple journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, the nation’s premier medical journal.

Dr. Malizia has been elected to the national listing of Best Doctors and has received the B Metro award for Top Women in Medicine. Dr. Malizia has served on several local and national committees including the SART Advertising Committee and is on the board of the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals. Prior to her medical career, Dr. Malizia was a member of the Cornell University Lacrosse team and then worked at a large Wall Street investment bank.

Dr. Malizia specializes in infertility and reproductive surgery. She welcomes patients with a range of issues including infertility, irregular periods, fibroids and pregnancy loss. She lives in Birmingham with her husband, four children and their black lab. Dr. Malizia enjoys photography and time at the lake with her family.
