Dr. Spurlin enjoys the full spectrum of reproductive care. She is particularly interested in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery to enhance reproductive outcomes.

Emily Spurlin, MD

Dr. Spurlin was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She earned her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University. Following her time as a clinical research coordinator at the National Institutes of Health, she returned to Alabama to obtain her medical degree from the University of South Alabama. Dr. Spurlin then completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City and pursued fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Washington University in St. Louis. During her medical training, Dr. Spurlin was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dr. Spurlin is particularly interested in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery to enhance reproductive outcomes. As one of the inaugural graduates of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons’ Surgical Scholars Track, she received specialized training that underscores her commitment to advancing reproductive surgery. In addition to a passion for reproductive surgery, Dr. Spurlin enjoys the full spectrum of reproductive care from fertility evaluation and patient education to helping patients find the right treatment course for their particular family building goals.

Dr. Spurlin and her husband, Brock, recently moved to Birmingham with their son and Boston Terrier. As a family, they enjoy exploring new restaurants and breweries and look forward to hearing recommendations from her patients on the best local spots in Birmingham!
